Our mission is to redefine
the self storage experience.

Simple. Convenient. Transparent.

Our Beginning

Stash-It was created with one mission in mind—redefine the self storage experience.

Before Stash-It, our Founder Kurt Winter realized the traditional self storage experience didn’t feel safe, convenient, cost effective, or satisfying. He believed a more efficient solution was possible. He began researching ways public storage could be drastically transformed.

Kurt knew he wasn’t the only one experiencing these frustrations. For many people across the country renting storage space has become a necessity between space restrictions, moving, traveling, etc. By digging a little deeper, he discovered that in many homes, the garage is underutilized, revealing that there are empty spaces all over neighborhoods. A lightbulb went off and it was clear that something could be done to connect those who need storage space with those who have it. The storage in one neighbor’s home could be the perfect storage option for another neighbor down the street.

By looking at the success of Uber, AirBnB, Lyft, and others, he concluded that the sharing economy was the way to change the storage experience for all involved.

Running with this idea to redefine self storage, Kurt hired Jeremy Hass at once and together they created Stash-It. They developed the platform that would break into the $32 billion storage industry and provide an upgraded experience for everyone.

Stash-It was designed for the Stashers and Hosts of local neighborhoods. For Stashers, our application provides a close-to-home, secure, and cost effective solution. Then, for Hosts with extra space in their home, Stash-It allows them to utilize it and monetize it. The Stash-It space sharing platform is the alternative to the previous frustrations of traditional storage units and provides the upgraded storage experience.

Our Now

Since our launch, one of our main goals at Stash-It is to be transparent with our Hosts and Stashers. We have made it so rates are established upfront, there are no hidden fees, and dropoff and pickup times are flexible. So you know your belongings are safe and secure, we run mandatory background checks on all of our Hosts.

Furthermore, we have gotten rid of deceiving contracts. It’s a noticeable trend that traditional storage facilities offer lucrative promotions such as a month for free or a month for $1 when you sign up. Unfortunately, those deals can bind someone to a 6-month contract. What’s even worse is when the promotional period ends, the rate skyrockets and makes the unit very expensive.

We are not about deception and we never want our users to feel trapped. That’s why with Stash-It, durations are custom to your timeline and can be easily adjusted.

As we continue to grow, we will always aim to provide a seamless experience for both our Stashers and Hosts. We will strive to make storage how it should be—simple, convenient, and transparent.

We hope you join our mission to redefine how self storage is done by Stashing or Hosting with us.
